Meeting Tangible Needs

Care Resources

James 1:27 reminds us that pure religion is to care for orphans and widows in their distress and to remain unstained by the world. At Parkview Church in Iowa City, IA, we believe the church is called to support the needy, hurting, and marginalized by meeting tangible needs with the compassion and grace of Jesus. Read on to explore the care resources we offer.

  • Pastoral Care and Counseling

Our pastors are here to walk with you through life circumstances, such as engagement, life planning, the loss of a loved one, health challenges, and more. Counseling can be coordinated through our front office staff who will match you with the appropriate pastor and ensure you have the resources you need for your situation.

If you are in a senior living community in the Iowa City, IA area, our pastors can be requested for a visit if desired.

As always, our pastors, elders, and staff desire to pray fervently for our church body, including you. If you have a specific prayer request, please let us know so that we can pray.

  • Benevolence

The Benevolence Ministry exists to assist church members, regular attenders or those connected to Parkview ministries with basic needs such as food, shelter, or family support. It is intended to be a one-time gift after the family or individual has explored other possibilities of help from family, friends, savings, or investments.

If this description fits your situation, you can apply for benevolence below, and a member of the Benevolence Team will reach out for next steps.

  • Spiritual Care and Support for UI Students

  • Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministers are trained lay caregivers who provide emotional and spiritual support to people going through difficult times in life, providing hope and healing in the midst of their pain.

  • Additional Care Services

Our Deacon Team is equipped to serve our church family and wider community through a variety of ways. Some additional care services we offer are:

    • Care for Seniors: Our deacons assist with bible studies and services at local senior living centers and visit members who are not able to leave their homes.
    • Community Service: As a church family, we long not only to serve our own, but also to serve our wider Iowa City community. To this end, our deacon team organizes an annual church-wide food drive in partnership with local food pantries as well as annual blood drives that encourage our attenders to participate in the health care needs of our community.
