The New Testament makes it clear that growing as a Christian is a simple matter of prayerfully and incrementally applying the word of God to our hearts as we set our will to obey Christ. But the New Testament also makes it clear that this kind of transformation can only happen in the context of committed Christian friendships. Gathering on Sunday morning for worship is imperative. But it’s rare in the time before and after worship to form the kind deep relationships that foster real growth. Community Groups exist to create an environment where this kind of friendship flourishes, as we commit to helping one another toward growth in Christ.
Community groups are hosted in member’s homes in the area throughout the year. A typical community group gathering lasts 1-2 hours and features Bible study and application based on the sermon text from the previous week, and often includes time to socialize and share a meal together.
